Jesuit's swimming team opened its 2008 season with an impressive win on September 4th, at the first meet held at the Temple Terrace pool. During the competition, one of the lanes was left open with a swim cap placed on the platform as a touching tribute to recently deceased James Parker '11, who was a member of Jesuit's team during the 2007 season.

On July 27th, the New Orleans Province honored several key anniversaries with a Jubilee Mass and reception. Among the Jesuits honored for their years in the Society of Jesus were former Jesuit Tampa presidents, Fr. Michael Kennelly, S.J., (center) and Fr. Joseph Doyle, S.J., (right). Fr. James Bradley, S.J., also a former Jesuit Tampa president, is pictured at left.

Of the 139 graduates from the Class of 2008, 100% have been accepted at 121 colleges and universities; 136 have been offered over $12.1 million in scholarships; 130 have received Florida Bright Futures Scholarships; the class performed 14,039 community service hours during their senior alone, averaging 101 hours per graduate.

Six Jesuit High Schools traveled to Florida during Easter break to join Jesuit High School of Tampa in its first Jesuit Spring Break Invitational tournament. The other Jesuit high schools in the March 25 – 28th contest included: Fordham Preparatory (Bronx, NY), Gonzaga College High School (Washington, D.C.), Regis Jesuit (Aurora, CO), Regis (NYC), Rockhurst (Kansas City, MO), and Seattle Preparatory (Seattle, WA). Tampa’s Berkeley Preparatory was the only local and non-Jesuit school to participate.

The documentary film, "Xavier - Missionary and Saint" (video clip - requires Quicktime), was produced by Jeff Johnson, S.J. and Jeremy Zipple, S.J. Mr. Johnson, who wrote the film’s script, is currently an English teacher at Jesuit High School in Tampa, Florida.
